Description
On the nose there are sweet fruit and Oloroso sherry notes, layered with honey and vanilla. On the palate it is smooth and mellow with beautifully combined flavours. Nutty sweetness, cinnamon spiciness and a delicately proportioned layer of sherry.
Balvenie enjoys a reputation as one of the world's finest Scotch brands, with the traditional crafts of malt whisky making still flourishing at their distillery today. The Balvenie Distillery has been owned and managed by the same independent family company for five generations. Nowhere else will you find a distillery that still grows its own barley, still malts in its own traditional floor maltings, employs a team of coopers to tend all the casks and a Coppersmith to maintain the stills.
Malt Master, David Stewart has over fifty years of experience that enables him to skillfully use different types of cask and different ages of spirit to craft The Balvenie range of single malts. Each expression has a distinctive taste, but all share a rich, honeyed character.
DoubleWood 12 Year Old Single Malt Whisky gains its distinctive character from being matured in two woods. Over its period of development, the spirit is transferred from a traditional whisky oak cask to an original sherry oak cask. Each stage of this ageing lends a specific quality to the resulting Scottish Whisky - the traditional wood softens and adds character, the sherry wood brings depth and a fullness of flavour.
