Description
Golden in colour, Drambuie emits suggestions of saffron, honey, anise nutmeg and herb. A honeyed sweetness overshadows the whisky base, finishing smoothly, complexly and warmly.
Steeped in wild tales of historical origins, Drambuie liqueur has cemented for itself a reputation of liqueur excellence. The story of Drambuie emerges from the 1740's, where during a period of fierce warfare, the fleeing Prince Charles Edward Stuart sought refuge with the generous MacKinnon Clan. As a token of gratitude the Prince gifted the Highlands Clan with his secret, though eminent, golden elixir recipe. Later in the 19th Century the MacKinnon Clan passed the recipe onto James Ross, where it was altered and registered as a trademark under the Drambuie name. Whatever the true history, it is not the legend that has proven Drambuie as a liqueur of quality, but rather the inherent masterful blend of the best whiskies in Scotland.
On the rocks, mixed, or served in Drambuie cocktails such as the Rusty Nail Drink, this is one of the world's finest liqueurs, delighting the palates of many.
